How To Get More Flooring Leads For My Business

I’m standing here on this hickory hardwood floor I just installed. I’m thinking to myself, how does an average flooring guy like me get more leads so that I can grow my business?

The most essential thing to grow your flooring business is more leads. More leads equal more estimates, which turns into more jobs. To get more leads, you need to set up a high quality website. You also need to set up your Google Business Listing. Lastly, You need to get a Facebook/Instagram page up and running. Let’s look into what these things are, and how to get started.

1. Setting Up Your Website

There are many different ways to go about setting up your website. The way that I did it for my flooring business was by using a website building platform called Wix. There are other platforms out there like Squarespace, Wordpress, Weebly, and more. I decided to go with Wix because it looked like I could build a great website for pretty cheap. Squarespace came in at a close second, so that is also most likely another good option.

Building your website and getting it live on the internet isn’t nearly as complicated as it used to be, but it definitely takes a lot of time if you want it to look nice. For me, hiring a website design company wasn’t something that I wanted to right off the bat, so I spent nights after my jobs for a couple months to get a great website up and running. If you have some extra money, hiring a website design company will help you get a site up and running WAY quicker, so it’s still a good option. Keep in mind that you’ll probably be paying anywhere from $2k-$10k depending on how complex you want your website.

Wix has an Artificial Intelligence website building system that you can use if you want them to build a “decent” website for you in just a few minutes. That’s how I started, and then tweaked a ton of things to make the website my own.

A good website has a few different characteristics. First, it has to look nice. Your website is the first interaction that a potential customer is going to have with you, so it needs to be visually appealing. Second, there needs to be pictures of the work that you have done. This could be on a gallery page, but you also need some great pictures of your work directly on the home page of your website. If a customer can’t see the work you do, they won’t hire you. Third, you need to build trust. This means that you should have a section on your website that has reviews from customers. That way, potential customers will see that you’ve done work with other people and that they were happy with the work you did. Finally, you need to have multiple EASY ways for potential customers to contact you. I would make sure your phone number is listed on the website in multiple places, and that it’s clickable if the customer is viewing your website on a mobile phone. I would also have some contact forms on your website.

2. Claiming Your Google Business Listing

This is a really important step. It’s arguably just as important (if not more important) than setting up your website. Everyone searches on Google. You search on Google probably more than you realize. A google business listing will help your business get noticed on google. If you’re unfamiliar with what a google business listing is, go to google and type in “flooring businesses near me.” The results that come up at the top with the map are google business listings.

Each google business listing has a couple components: reviews from customers, your website, pictures, and contact information. If you set up your listing correctly, it will show up when a customer searches for a flooring company in your area. To make sure this happens, the first thing you need to go about getting is more reviews. You can get reviews by simply asking your friends and family to find your google business listing and write you a review. The longer the review, the better it is. Customers can even add pictures to the reviews they post.

Next, you need to make sure you have a lot of pictures within your listing. These are pictures that have to be uploaded by you. I would recommend having 10-20 pictures of jobs you’ve completed. Customers will look at these pictures, so make sure they are good quality.

If you’ve already set up your website, you can connect it to your google listing. This adds just one more way for customers to look at work you’ve done and build trust. You also want to make sure you have your accurate contact information within your Google listing. Customers can click to call you directly from Google, so you’ll want to make sure the number you’ve connected is your business line or a line where it’s ok for customers to call you at.

If you have all of those items in place, your google business listing should be good to go! You’ll want to keep focusing on getting more reviews and adding new photos when you get them. The more active you are with your google business listing, the more business you will likely get from it.

3. Building Your Facebook & Instagram Pages

The final step, but definitely not the least important, is to set up a Facebook and instagram page for your business. The main purpose of these pages is simply to give customers another way to reach you. It will also help customers find you a little bit easier when they are searching for a flooring company in google.

On your Facebook and Instagram pages, you want to make sure your contact information is relevant. I’ve seen a lot of pages where the contact information is old and doesn’t work anymore. The last thing you want is for people to want to hire you, but when they go to call you your phone number is disconnected or not the correct one.

You’ll also want to have a ton of pictures with jobs that you’ve recently completed. Treat this in a similar way to your Google business listing. When someone searches online for “flooring company near me” or “hardwood floor refinishing near me”, it’s possible that your Facebook and Instagram pages will come up. With that in mind, make your pages look as good as possible.

Lastly, Connect your Facebook and instagram pages to your website. What I mean by that is you need to have links present on your website that a customer can click and go directly to your Facebook or Instagram page.

A bonus tip involving Facebook and Instagram is that you can (and probably should) run paid ads. With this, I would hire out the work to a reputable company or someone that you know that is REALLY good at running internet ads. For my flooring business, running ads is a huge driver of business. If you want to be in control of how much work you get, and how many leads you get each month, running ads can be a great thing to do. Be cautious though- many companies who offer ads for $300/mo really aren’t going to be getting you any business. A highly quality ad company is going to be charging anywhere from $750-$2,000 per month for an advertising campaign. This may seem daunting, but I can promise you, if they know what they’re doing your business will grow and it will pay off.

So, hopefully you can learn a little from my experiences. I know that in using these tips, I have increased the number of leads I get on a monthly basis by a HUGE amount. This can all seem a little bit daunting, but if you just sit down and get it done, you’ll be happy that you did and your wallet will be thanking you as well.
